Our society depends on mobility. In recent years, however,  the increasing awareness of environment and limited ressources resulted in a rethinking process of travel and transportation means. E-Mobility will be one key element of future transportation. This affects the future automobile industry and involves new business models.

 

With different research groups, the Chair of Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components (PEM) of RWTH Aachen University focuses on topics like battery production, electric powertrain, manufacturing of the body shop and plastic components, moreover also on automotive assembly.

The Gear Department of the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of RWTH Aachen University focuses on the design, simulation and analysis of automotive gearboxes and drive trains during their utilization. Besides technical performance during utilization, the efficient assembly of these features is a main focus of research.

The e.GO Mobile AG develops electric vehicles for short haul mobility concepts. The company wants to prove that electric cars cause not only driving pleasure, but also look attractive and are particularly economic and practical. Currently a microcar, named e.GO Life is developed.
