RWTH Actively Engaged in Promoting Health – The RWTH Aachen Health Portal

Everyday, university life poses a multitude of challenges to both students and employees. These challenges are often linked to high amounts of stress. RWTH Aachen is deeply committed to becoming a health-promoting university. Our goal is to support all of our members in sustaining and promoting health and well-being.

The Health Portal is an information platform for all members of university who would like to know more about the topic of health at RWTH, would appreciate a private consultation or are looking for work-life balance involving exercise and relaxation.

The coordinator of Operational Health Management welcomes your suggestions and questions at any time.

Task Force for the Promotion of Health

In order to purposefully implement the promotion of health at university, or GF in German for short, an RWTH Aachen task force has been formed. This team is dedicated to:

  • initiating measures to achieve and support a university workplace that is conducive to healthy work habits as well as a healthy lifestyle
  • making the targets of GF at university widely known and strengthening them by means of public relations activities
  • pooling and coordinating existing activities at RWTH Aachen in order to develop a master plan for GF, or the promotion of health at university

Healthy Diversity - the Motto of 2019 Health Day

Many thanks for all the positive feedback and suggestions we received.

This varied health day featured much amusement, a little sweat, pleasant relaxation, and awareness as well as fascinating new insights about nutrition or how to overcome stress.

We answered the following questions for example:

  • What do I need to do to lead a healthy lifestyle?
  • What should I watch out for in my everyday life?
  • Where can I find help and support?
  • How can I positively influence my health by making just a few small changes?

Taster Day

Health Day primarily served as a taster day for many topics on personal health. We would encourage anyone who has discovered something new or is now motivated to take on something again to take advantage of the opportunities at RWTH Aachen University and beyond.

Whether you are looking for exercise and relaxation, check-ups or advice due to personal crises, psychological stress, conflicts at work, difficulty studying or problems with alcohol, medication, or drugs - below you will find the right contact. Alternatively, you can contact the BGM Coordination Office.

We hope that you will also take advantage of offers in the future that are good for your wellbeing in the workplace and for you personally.

Anonymous survey on mental health and well-being in the workplace

It is a matter of great concern for the leadership of RWTH to be able to keep improving the working conditions and the university as a workplace for all employees. In order to work in a targeted manner, RWTH has decided to conduct an anonymous staff survey to conduct an assessment of dangers of psychological stress in the workplace.

The aim of the survey is to create working conditions and an environment that strengthen employees' physical and mental health and their general welfare.

Step Counter Campaign

The Step Counter Team Challenge "Every Step Counts" has successfully ended.

Over the course of one year 392 people and 134 teams participated in the challenge, taking a total of 48,360,291 steps. That equals roughly 35,303 kilometers, which is only about 5,000km short of a walk around the globe!

Additionally, 1,934,412 kcal or 3650 bars of milk chocolate were burned.

On average each participant accomplished 10,000 steps a day. That's an amazing result! This corresponds to roughly 106 km in 14 days and an additional 5,818 calories burned. All lottery winners will be notified via email.

Make note of our general tips for being active at work.
